When Akin is not on the field, he is getting involved with the Jacksonville community. He enjoys giving back to those who support him at his football games and will always make an effort to support his fans.
Akin has provided the Michael Tilmon Memorial Scholarship to high school kids for the past several years.
Akin has also partnered with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Entertainment to provide youth ages 6 - 12 with an opportunity to develop their bodies and their minds through Akin's Reading and Rec Program.
The program combines reading time with physical activity and discussions about the importance of education, recreation, sportsmanship and teamwork.
